Sheriff's Race Draws Nine Candidates; Town Hall Set in Woodruff
With Sheriff Chuck Wright stepping down after 20 years, nine candidates entered the race. The Woodruff Times and SpartansFirst scheduled a town hall with all nine at the City of Woodruff Auditorium on July 22, 2025.
The Woodruff Times reported in July 2025 that Spartanburg County voters would elect a new sheriff for the first time in two decades, after Sheriff Chuck Wright announced he was stepping down after 20 years in office. Nine candidates had entered the race.
To let voters hear from every candidate in one place, the paper partnered with SpartansFirst on a Sheriff's Race Town Hall at the City of Woodruff Auditorium on July 22, 2025 (doors 5:30 p.m., program 6 p.m.). According to the paper, all nine candidates confirmed they would take part. Tickets were $10 through Eventbrite, and the forum was to be livestreamed on both organizations' Facebook pages.
The event has passed. For current election information, check the Spartanburg County Voter Registration and Elections office. The full story is at The Woodruff Times.
