Woodruff City Council Gives Go Ahead for $10+ Million Wastewater Expansion
Council approved Harper Construction for phase one of a wastewater plant expansion to 2.5 million gallons a day, largely funded by a $10 million state grant.
Woodruff City Council authorized a contract with Harper Construction for the first phase of a wastewater treatment plant expansion, raising capacity to 2.5 million gallons per day for expected population growth. City Manager Lee Bailey said the contract is $11.3 million, but phase one should end up around $10.2 million, paid largely by a $10 million state revolving fund grant awarded in 2022. Phase two, which equips the facility, is still seeking funding, and Bailey said he hopes to finish without adding debt.
Council also annexed 15.03 acres at 2060 Old Orchard Road as industrial (no project planned), updated the flood-damage prevention rules to match state law, and gave first reading to business-license class updates.
Bailey reported that new playground equipment was going in at McKinney Park and that a new 53-space downtown parking lot behind the east side of Main Street was nearly finished.
