Woodruff Resident Advocates Return of Parks & Rec Tourism Committee
A resident asked council to revive the Parks & Recreation Tourism Committee. The City Manager's 2024 recap cited $188M+ in investment and 500+ building permits.
At the December 2024 meeting, a resident asked City Council to bring back the Parks & Recreation Tourism Committee. It would give volunteers from across Woodruff's neighborhoods a voice in future parks and events. Because it was a resident request to speak, council took no action on it.
Council adopted the five-year revision of the Comprehensive Plan, updated for state-law changes and the 2020 census. It accepted $1.5 million in state loan assistance, largely principal forgiveness, toward a $1.8 million sewer pump station. It also rezoned 58 acres at 6228 Highway 101 to industrial and updated police policies required by the state.
In his year-end recap, City Manager Lee Bailey said more than $188 million was invested in Woodruff in 2024 and more than 500 building permits were pulled. He named the new high school, the BMW battery plant and downtown projects as milestones expected in 2025.
