Game 1 Preview: Woodruff at Broome
Woodruff opened the 2026 football season at old rival Broome, coming off an 11-2 year and its first region title since 2015.
The Woodruff Times previewed the Wolverines' 2026 season opener at Broome. Woodruff went 11-2 in 2025 and won its first region championship since 2015, and moves down to Class 2A this year.
The preview counts this as the 35th meeting between the two schools. Woodruff leads the all-time series 20-14 and won last year's game 49-14. Head coach Brett Sloan, in his fourth season, expects a high-scoring offense with most of its starters back, and a defense with nine new starters. Broome is coached by Lynn Fleming, in his 10th season.
The Woodruff Times story includes the full series history, players to watch for both teams and Coach Sloan's comments.
