Woodruff Falls 43-33 to Mountain View Prep With Clinton Next
A late Wolverines rally fell short against the Stars, Woodruff's third straight loss, leaving the regular-season finale at Clinton as the sure way into the playoffs.
The Woodruff Times reported on October 29, 2026 on the Wolverines' 43-33 region loss to rival Mountain View Prep. Here is our summary, team-level only.
Mountain View Prep led 8-0 after one quarter and 22-12 at halftime. Woodruff opened the second half with a touchdown to make it 22-19, then made a fourth-down stop at midfield, but penalties stalled the drive. The Stars answered with a 21-0 run to lead 43-19.
In the last four minutes Woodruff scored on a long pass, converted for two, recovered an onside kick and drove to first-and-goal at the four, but was stopped inches short on fourth down. The defense then forced a fumble and recovered it in the end zone for the final 43-33.
Woodruff outgained MVP 413 to 400 in total yards. It was the Wolverines' third straight loss. The paper noted Woodruff could still make the postseason under the new RPI format on strength of schedule, but a win in the regular-season finale at Clinton was the only sure way in.
