Wolverine Roundup: Volleyball and Tennis Seasons End as Football Plays for Postseason Seeding
Woodruff volleyball finished 14-15 after a first-round playoff loss, girls' tennis went 7-14, and football reaches the postseason either way under the new RPI seeding.
The Woodruff Times published a fall sports roundup on October 29, 2026. Here is our summary, team by team.
Football: after three straight region losses, the Wolverines still qualify for the playoffs under the new RPI seeding system thanks to their strength of schedule. A loss to Clinton in the regular-season finale would likely make Woodruff the No. 14 seed with a first-round trip to Crescent; a win would mean a higher seed and possibly a rematch with Chesnee.
Volleyball: the Lady Wolverines lost to St. Joseph Catholic in the first round of the playoffs and finished 14-15, more wins than last season, in one of the toughest 2A regions in the state. Three freshmen started this year.
Cross-country: the boys and girls teams each finished fourth in the region championship race. The county championships come next, then the 2A Upper State qualifier on November 7.
Girls' tennis: Woodruff fell 4-2 to Clinton in the first round of the 2A playoffs and finished 7-14 against a hard schedule, with a young roster coming back next year.
