School Board Approves a Playground for the New Intermediate School and a High School Lawn Contract

At its March meeting the Woodruff School Board approved a playground of just under $55,000 for the new intermediate school and a three-year lawn contract for the new high school.

The Woodruff Times reported on April 11, 2026 on the Woodruff School Board's March meeting. Here is our summary.

The new intermediate school, which opens this fall in the current middle school building, will get a new playground. The board approved a proposal from Great Southern Recreation for just under $55,000. The equipment holds 62 students, the largest of the four proposals, and is handicap accessible with safety ground cover and observation benches. It is expected to be ready for the new school year.

The board also approved a three-year lawn maintenance contract with Roebuck Wholesale Nursery & Landscaping for the new high school grounds, at about $1,465 per cutting and roughly 30 cuttings a year. The shorter term lets it line up with the district-wide contract when both expire. Field maintenance is separate.

Assistant Superintendent Chris Benfield told the board the state budget was still in progress, with indications of a $2,000 increase to each teacher pay scale. Board meetings are held the first Monday of each month and are open to the public.
