Woodruff City Council Moves Forward with 250-Acre Annexation Requests; River Bend Athletic Complex Progress Expected Soon
Council passed first reading on three annexation requests totaling more than 250 acres, and heard that River Bend Athletic Complex work would soon show above-ground progress.
Woodruff City Council approved the first reading of three annexation requests that together would bring more than 250 acres into the city if they pass second reading. The largest is just over 205 acres on Highway 221 near Miller Road, requested for single-family residential zoning; the city manager said no development is planned there yet. A second request covers about 53 acres on Miller Road, where a housing development is already underway and already on city sewer. The third is a 10-foot strip on Cross Anchor Road that makes the Miller Road area contiguous with city limits, with no zoning or tax effect.
In his update, City Manager Lee Bailey said the city is preparing to resurface the McKinney Park basketball court and that construction at the River Bend Athletic Complex would soon be visible above ground. Council meets the last Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, and meetings are open to the public.
