Wood, Durham and Sloan Sworn In for New Terms; Council Widens New-Road Standards

At its October 2025 meeting, Woodruff City Council swore in re-elected members Jeff Wood, Allen Durham and Toni Sloan and named Wood Mayor Pro Tem. It also widened standards for new roads, set the 2026 meeting calendar and accepted a petition to annex 53 acres on Miller Road.

The Woodruff Times reported on December 5, 2025 on the October meeting of the Woodruff City Council.

Council members Jeff Wood, Allen Durham and Toni Sloan, all re-elected without opposition, were sworn in for new terms. Council then named Wood Mayor Pro Tem, a post Sloan had held. Sloan made the nomination.

Council unanimously approved second reading of a change to the land development regulations that widens the right-of-way and pavement for new roads, giving utility companies more room to install and repair lines. It kept the 2026 meeting schedule on the last Tuesday of each month, except December because of Christmas. It accepted a petition to annex a 53-acre housing development on Miller Road, which still needs a final annexation ordinance. It also authorized the city manager to sign vendor contracts for the Riverbend Athletic Complex to keep that project on schedule.

Council meets the last Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, and meetings are open to the public.
