City Council Advances Mills Mill Ballfield Sale for 32 Senior Rental Homes and Lower Impact Fees

At its July 26, 2022 meeting, Council gave first reading to selling and rezoning the 3.03-acre former Mills Mill ballfield on Mill Street for 32 rental homes for residents 55+, and to revised development impact fees. It also approved a $171,000 police vehicle lease with Truist.

The Woodruff Times reported on August 22, 2022 on City Council's July 26 meeting.

Council gave first reading to the sale and rezoning of the former Mills Mill ballfield, about 3.03 acres at 220 Mill Street, from single-family to multi-family residential. The plan is a 32-unit rental community for residents over age 55.

Council also gave first reading to revised development impact fees. The outlet reported that developers had found the recently adopted fees excessive, and that city staff studies showed they could be reduced without giving up the revenue meant for police expansion and parks.

Council approved second reading of revisions to the planned development zoning ordinance, so industrial projects can be combined with commercial or residential ones. It also gave first reading to a $171,000 lease agreement with Truist Bank to finance police vehicles. City Manager Lee Bailey is the city official named in the report.

The next meeting was set for August 30, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. at Woodruff City Hall.
