The Woodruff Times and The Upstate Times Announce Young Writers Competition
Students in grades 1–12 can enter an original story by Oct. 1, 2026. Entry is free, and three $100 grand prizes will be awarded.
The Woodruff Times and The Upstate Times opened a 2026 Young Writers Competition for Upstate students in grades 1–12. Stories can be on any age-appropriate topic. They must be original, and AI-generated or plagiarized work may be disqualified. There are three age groups (grades 1–5, 6–8 and 9–12), and each group's grand-prize winner receives $100 and publication in both papers.
Entries and a signed parent or guardian permission form are due Oct. 1, 2026. Entry is free, with no subscription or purchase required. Full rules and the entry address are on the original article and the Times' contest page.
