School Board Approves $42 Million Budget
District Four trustees approved a $42.8 million 2026–27 budget (up 13%, mostly for raises and benefits) and kept free breakfast and lunch for all students.
The Spartanburg County District Four Board of Trustees gave final approval to a $42.8 million budget for 2026–2027. That's about 13 percent, or nearly $5 million, more than last year, driven mostly by higher salaries and benefits. The increase includes the state's $2,000-per-cell teacher raise and a 3 percent raise for all district employees. Trustees also approved budgets for R.D. Anderson, McCarthy-Teszlar and the Spartanburg County Alternative School.
The board voted to stay in the federal Community Eligibility Provision, which gives every student free qualifying breakfast and lunch. The district chose to keep 99-percent reimbursement for one more year, even though the latest federal calculation came in just over 91 percent.
Trustees also approved $60,535 for three hospital beds for the new high school's health-science labs and $87,085 for 45 laptop charging carts for K–5 classrooms, as schools move away from sending laptops home.
