Spring Sports at the Halfway Point: Wolverines Sweep a Big Week Against Chapman
The Woodruff Times midseason roundup: Woodruff baseball, softball and both soccer teams beat Chapman, and Wolverine track athletes placed high at the Electric City Invitational.

Baseball: Woodruff beat defending conference champion Chapman 6-3, breaking a 3-3 tie with three runs in the bottom of the sixth behind a complete-game pitching effort. The win moved the Wolverines to 7-8 overall and 2-2 in region play.
Softball: The Lady Wolverines edged Chapman 6-5 for their first region win, improving to 5-6, with a region game against Union County up next before the break.
Girls soccer: Woodruff swept a region doubleheader with Chapman. The varsity won 2-1, moving to 9-4-1 and 2-1 in conference, and the JV won 4-0.
Boys soccer: Down 1-0 at halftime, the Wolverines tied the game late and held through regulation and two overtimes before beating Chapman on penalty kicks. Woodruff's keeper stopped three Chapman attempts. The team moved to 10-1 and 3-1 in conference.
Track and field: At the Electric City Invitational, hosted by Anderson University, Wolverine throwers and jumpers posted several top-six finishes, including second-place marks in both the boys and girls pole vault and fourth-place finishes in the boys discus, javelin and shot put.
