Local Organization Launches Thanksgiving Food Drive
Gretchen Kares, a Woodruff nonprofit founded in 2024 by WHS graduate Gretchen Martin-Perry, collected food and gift cards in fall 2025 for Thanksgiving bags for single parents, seniors and veterans.
The Woodruff Times reported in October 2025 that Gretchen Kares, a nonprofit started in 2024 by Woodruff native and 1990 Woodruff High School graduate Gretchen Martin-Perry, had launched its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.
According to the paper, the group focuses on single-parent households, senior citizens and veterans. It asked residents and local businesses to give nonperishable staples such as canned vegetables, stuffing mix, pasta and rice, along with money or grocery gift cards to fill holiday baskets. Donations were taken through November 7, 2025, and food bags were set to be handed out on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
"No one should have to go without a Thanksgiving meal," Martin-Perry told the paper.
This drive has ended. For the original details, see the full story at The Woodruff Times.
