Cat Missing Eight Years Found on West Georgia Street and Sent Home
Theo, a 12-year-old cat missing from his Simpsonville home for eight years, was found downtown in Woodruff and reunited with his family thanks to a microchip.
The Woodruff Times reported on November 7, 2026 that Theo, a cat missing from his Simpsonville home for eight years, is back with his family after turning up in Woodruff. Here is our summary.
Theo, now 12, was found on West Georgia Street between Tap Three and The Yellow Butterfly, according to an October 25 post on a Woodruff community Facebook page. The person who found him carried him three blocks and asked online for help. The Kitty Krew took him in, treated an eye infection, and looked for his owner.
During a visit to the Pet Resource Center of Spartanburg County, staff found a microchip, and the scan led them to Theo's family. Where he spent the missing years, and how he got to Woodruff, is still unknown. Both groups said it is a good reminder to microchip pets and keep the contact information current.
"What we do know is a tiny microchip made this reunion possible," the resource center wrote.
