Aug 2023: Council Creates a Ministerial Recorder Post for Police Warrants and Fills Housing Authority Seats

At Police Chief Greg Ryan's request, council created a ministerial recorder post so warrants and subpoenas can be signed locally, appointed Clerk of Court Christy Snow to it, and approved two county-nominated residents to the Housing Authority board.

The Woodruff Times reported on August 31, 2023 on a short Woodruff City Council agenda.

Ministerial recorder: Police Chief Greg Ryan asked council to create a ministerial recorder position and appoint Clerk of Court Christy Snow to it. The recorder can sign arrest and search warrants and subpoenas, so officers no longer have to find a judge or drive to the county courthouse for those signatures. Council approved the request.

Housing Authority: Council unanimously approved two Woodruff residents, nominated by Spartanburg County, to five-year terms on the Housing Authority of Woodruff Board of Commissioners.

Updates: City Manager Lee Bailey said the annual audit would begin in late August and that he expected another good report. He also passed along positive feedback on the Fourth of July fireworks from the show's main sponsor, Woodruff Chevrolet.
