Woodruff-Roebuck Water District Marks 70 Years of Service

The Woodruff-Roebuck Water District celebrated its 70th anniversary with employees, commissioners, retirees and partners, honoring long-serving staff and pledging reliable service as western Spartanburg County keeps growing.

The Woodruff Times reported on June 20, 2026 that the Woodruff-Roebuck Water District celebrated 70 years of service with a gathering of employees, commissioners, retirees and community partners.

Recognition: Board Chairman Niles Brown, Vice Chairman Gary Kirkland and Commissioner Scott Dickard were recognized for their service. General Manager Kermit Johnson thanked staff and highlighted long careers, including Patsy Taylor, honored for 47 years as an employee and three years as a commissioner. The district also remembered a late commissioner and thanked its longtime attorney for his guidance.

Looking ahead: Speakers noted that the district has quietly supplied water to homes, schools, churches and businesses for seven decades. Western Spartanburg County has seen strong residential and commercial growth, which puts more demand on utility infrastructure, and district leaders pledged safe, reliable service while adapting to new technology and community needs.
