New Medical Facility Breaks Ground in Woodruff
Spartanburg Regional broke ground on Medical Group of the Carolinas – Family Medicine – Woodruff, an 18,000 sq ft primary-care building on Highway 101 with on-site X-ray and lab. It was slated to finish in summer 2026.
The Woodruff Times reports that community members, city officials and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System leaders broke ground in July 2025 on Medical Group of the Carolinas – Family Medicine – Woodruff.
According to the paper, the planned 18,000-square-foot building sits on a four-acre site along Highway 101. Plans called for 10 provider offices, 29 exam rooms, digital X-ray, expanded lab services and space for mobile imaging such as mammograms, MRI and CT, with specialty telehealth later. It is not an emergency facility; planned hours were Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with room to expand. Patients would no longer need to travel to Spartanburg for routine X-rays and lab work.
Dr. James M. Gragg and Dr. Kristen Starnes were to move their practice to the new building. Spartanburg Regional's Sara Beth Hammond credited City Manager Lee Bailey's support, and Bailey said the project began with a vision five years earlier. Mayor Kenneth Gist, Mayor Pro Tem Toni Sloan and Councilman Allen Durham, who was born in the original Woodruff hospital, also spoke.
The project was slated for completion in summer 2026. Check with Spartanburg Regional for current status and hours. The full story is at The Woodruff Times.
