Stone Soup at MUSE 134 is the downtown home of the Stone Soup Storytelling Institute, a Woodruff nonprofit that promotes storytelling as a performance art and as a way to build community. The organization has been recognized as a nonprofit since 1989.
Its best-known event is the Stone Soup Storytelling Festival, held each April in downtown Woodruff with MUSE 134 as its headquarters. The 2026 festival ran April 24–25 with storytellers from across the country, sessions for local schools, evening showcases and a "New Voices" set for emerging tellers. The Woodruff Times reported that it is supported in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission.
Throughout the year, Experience Spartanburg notes, MUSE 134 is home to performances and some artist-in-residence spaces. Events are scheduled one at a time, so check the institute's website for what's coming up.
