Blackstock Battlefield

The site of the November 20, 1780 Battle of Blackstock, near Enoree. It has a monument hill and a 1.5-mile loop of the Palmetto Trail. It is cared for by Musgrove Mill State Historic Site.

The Battle of Blackstock was fought here on November 20, 1780. The state bought the land in 2005, and Musgrove Mill State Historic Site, about 15 minutes away, looks after it.

The site is still largely undeveloped. A ½-mile gravel road on foot circles monument hill, where you can see the battlefield and its monument. Hikers can take the moderately difficult 1.5-mile Blackstock Battlefield loop of the Palmetto Trail.

To get there, the park gives these directions: take Highway 56 toward Cross Anchor, turn right onto Highway 49, left onto Blackstock Rd., right onto Battlefield Rd., then a slight left onto Monument Rd. Follow it to a metal gate and a small parking area.
